Global Outreach Fund
The goal of the Global Outreach Fund is to support English language teacher professionals who face personal and/or institutional financial constraints limiting their access to the professional development products and services offered by TESOL.
The TESOL Global Outreach Program is supported by member donations. These donations enable members and non members to apply for TESOL membership and professional development program scholarships. TESOL will publish stories and accounts of the recipients during the year in the TESOL Connections monthly newsletter.
Eligibility: Practicing teachers or teacher trainers are eligible to apply for these scholarships if they reside in a country with a GNI of less than $15,000, as determined by the United Nations, or receive little institutional funding for professional development activities. Scholarships must be used within a year of receipt.
Deadline: March 31st
Application Process
To apply, submit an online application with the following attachments:
1. Statement of professional need/benefit addressing how the grant would benefit you personally and/or your place of employment, and expectations of how you would share this professional development knowledge with colleagues
2. Professional CV
3. Letter of recommendation* from your employer (or former employer) addressing
1. expectations for how you would share this professional development knowledge with colleagues
2. the level of financial support for professional development offered by your employer
3. your role at place of employment
4. Letter of recommendation* from your TESOL affiliate leader or other local professional association of English language teachers if no TESOL affiliate; otherwise, a letter from a local colleague who can address your professional involvement and interaction with other English language teaching professionals locally, regionally or nationally.
*Letters of recommendation are required only for individuals applying for a professional development program scholarship.
