MELTA is a regional professional association for all teachers of English working in the Munich area: freelance teachers at companies, private schools and the VHS as well as state school teachers. Established in 1989, MELTA is part of a wider network of English teachers’ organizations throughout Europe and has especially close ties to other English Language Teachers Associations (ELTAs) in Germany. MELTA is also affiliated to the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL), based in the UK.
