TexTESOL II
1977- TexTESOL Region II was formed through the efforts of Dr. Carolyn Kessler and Dr. Curtis Hayes (both UTSA professors) with the help of Jim Alatis, the National TESOL Executive Director.
There had previously been a policy of only one affiliate per state, but Dr. Kessler, Dr. Hayes, and Mr. Alatis were able to convince TESOL that the policy should be changed in Texas due to Texas’ size and geography; one affiliate was not enough to sufficiently address the professional development needs of Texas educators.
